Mattia MORANDIN PhD student and then Postdoc. His main research activity was in the field of analysis and design of synchronous permanent-magnet motor drives coupled to internal combustion engines for hybrid vehicles, coenergy generation apparatus, and movable electric energy generators. At the end of 2016 he moved to Carel SpA, Padova Italy.
Hanafy MAHMOUD He received the Bachelor’s and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from Cairo University, Cairo, Egypt, in 2009 and 2012, respectively and the Ph.D. degree at the University of Padova, Italy. His research activities are concentrated on the analysis of permanent magnet synchronous machines, focusing on analytical and finite-element modeling, and faulty conditions analysis. In Sept 2016 he moved to PEMC Laboratory at the University of Nottingham, UK.
Nicola CHIODETTO PhD student for one year. His main research activity is in the field of electromagnetic design of AC machines. In Sept 2016 he moved to Newcastle University, in Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK.
Riccardo ANTONELLO PhD student and then Postdoc. His main research activity was in the field of advanced control of electric drives; modelling, simulation and control of MEMS devices and smart actuators (shape memory alloy wires); vibration compensation and motion reconstruction using MEMS inertial sensors; telerobotic and haptic.

Emanuele FORNASIERO - PhD student and then postdoc. He received the Laurea degree and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Padova, Padova, Italy, in 2006 and 2010, respectively. During his Ph.D. studies, he worked on the analysis of rotor losses and fault-tolerant fractional slot permanent-magnet (PM) machines. He is currently a Research Assistant with the University of Padova, and his research activities are concentrated on the analysis and design of PM synchronous machines, particularly for large power applications.

Matthias PREINDL - PhD student. He received the B.Sc. degree (summa cum laude) from the University of Padova, Italy in 2008, the M.Sc. degree from ETH Zürich, Switzerland, in 2010, both in Electrical Engineering, and the PhD degree in Energy Engineering from the University of Padova. During the PhD course he was with the EDLab-PD. He was also a visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley. Moreover, he has been a visiting student at Aalborg University, Denmark where he wrote his diploma thesis. From 2010 to 2012, he was with Leitwind AG, Italy, as a R&D Engineer. Before that, he worked for Energy.dis GmbH, Italy and the Italian National Research Council (CNR-RFX). His research interests include control and design of power electronic systems with applications in drive systems, renewable energy generation, and vehicular systems, with particular attention to Model Predictive Control applications.
He left EDLab in 2014 for a post-doc position at MacMaster University in Ontario, Canada.
Luca SGARBOSSA - PhD student and then post doc. He received the Laurea Degree in Electronic Engineer at the University of Padova (Italy) in 2003 and the Ph.D. in Mechatronics and Industrial Systems at the same University in 2007, working ate the EDLab-PD. He was then research fellow at the Electrical Drive Laboratory in Padova. His main research activity was in the field of electrical drive control for mechatronics applications and hybrid vehicles.
He left EDLab in 2014 for an activity as consultant and designer in the field of electronics.
Adriano FAGGION - PhD student and then post doc. He received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in Automation Engineering from the University of Padova, Italy, in 2004 and 2006, respectively. Since 2008, he has been working toward the Ph.D. degree in the Electrical Drives Laboratory, Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Padova, received in 2011. His reserch activity was devoted to the design of innovative control strategies for PM motor drives, in particular for high efficiency and sensorless applications.
He left EDLab in 2014 for an activity as consultant and designer in the field of automation.
Massimo BARCARO - PhD student and then post doc. He received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Padova, Italy, in 2004 and 2006, respectively. From 2008 to 2011, he has been working for the Ph.D. degree at the Electric Drives Laboratory, University of Padova where he spent also a period as postdoc. His research activities were focused on the electromechanical analysis and design of permanent magnet synchronous machines, in particular for high power hybrid and electric vehicles application.
He left EDLab in 2013 to join the R&D and Technical Dept. of Bonfiglioli S.p.A.

Finbarr MOYHNIAN - Visting PhD. He visited EDLab-PD as Erasmus PhD student from University College Cork, Cork, Ireland. His main research activity was in the field of high performance PMSM drive control. After his PhD degree from the University College Cork, he joined Analog Devices in Boston, US and now (2014) he is General Manager - Corporate Sales, Media Tek Inc.
